Saved by Donnie

Donnie Darko 2 is coming with Saved By the Bell Jessie's girl Elizabeth Berkley in the star role. Apparently she is playing an ex drug addict turned Jesus freak that is in love with her priest but also wants to get rid of all things sinful in the world. UMMm righttt...well again this is a sequel so we'll see. Just to give it props, the original Donnie Darko was fabulous and so are the Gyllenhaals.

Baby Wentz

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz as she just changed her name has announced she is indeed pregnant with new husband Pete Wentz's baby. She is due in the Nov/Decemberish season so maybe the Wentz's will get a Christmas Present bundle of Joy!

Sequels Sequels and More Sequels

Beverly Hills Cop 4 is coming with Eddie Murphy starring once again and supposedly to be directed by Brett Ratner if negotiations go right. The film is planning on starting filming next year and be released summer 2010. The first three films have grossed over $700 million and Paramount saw the success of Indiana 4 so they gave the go ahead to do the film. Get ready for constant buzz and updates!

An inconvenient opera?

La Scala opera house in Milan has commissioned the musical version of Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth to be made into an opera for their 2011 season. Hmmm, I dont know about this...

Congrats to Indi

Rumor has it that Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart are engaged. They are expected to get married as soon as things settle down for Harrison with his Indiana Jones film. Congrats to them!

Different Kind of Reality Show

ABC is premiering a new reality show called Border Security USA. Yup its kinda like what it sounds. It will a never before seen behind the scenes look at the government's fight against terrorism and border control of smuggling and immigration. It will be the first multiepisode tv series that will be shot in cooperation with the Department of Homeland Security. The idea came from an Australian tv series of the same name and will premiere in the upcoming season.

Get Ready for SEX AND THE CITY

Sex and the City is coming out this weekend here in the US and unfortunately for the ladies it doesn't seem to be getting accepted as much overseas. A bus advertisement was seen with a decapitated Maria Antoinette mocking version of Carrie. O Well! She looked amazing at the New York Premiere and I'm sure fans will not be disappointed this weekend. After a big weekend for the boys with the Indiana Jones movie I'm sure woman everywhere are excited to get a summer blockbuster for them.

No More Flavor of Love

Flava Flav announced that he will not be doing his show Flavor of Love anymore in look for a lady to wear a clock chain around her neck with him because he has refound his long lost love in his baby's mama. I say although I will miss the original three or was it four seasons, good for Flava for sticking to his morals and being an upstanding father and possibly soon to be husbnad!

Indiana Jones rakes in the cash

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull did not do too shabby considering all the criticism its been getting in reviews. It rolled in around $311 million worldwide in its first weekend with about half of that coming from the US alone. It is only beat by Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End for the number one seat of the number one biggest Memorial Day Weekend movie opening. The film cost around $185 million to make but considering the first three Indiana films made $1.2 billion worldwide, I don' think anyone is worried about profiting off this huge summer blockbuster. If you haven't seen it, I definitely recommend doing so but if you can watch the first three first because it will just get you even more excited.

Russia Wins Eurovision

Unfortunately for the Greek American performer Kalomira, Russia upped the anti (how do u spell that anyways) and won the annual rock & pop European competition known as Eurovision. Ironically even though they are not a European country. Their performer was a singer named Dima Bilan who sang an R&B song named Believe. He brought out the works and his performance included a live violinist and an Olympic ice skater. Well in Russia it does seem to be go big or go home and Dima apparently did not want to go home...empty handed anyways. This is the first time Russia has won the song contest which was hosted by Serbia this year and included twenty countries in competition. Bilan had 272 points, followed by Ukraine's song with 230 points, and the Greek contestant with 218. So if you're into international music, check it out, it can't be that bad if it won best song in Europe (and half of Asia for that matter).

Here is a youtube clip live of the performance:

Cannes News

Benicio Del Toro won the Cannes' Best Actor award for his portrayal of Cuban revolutionary Che Guevara. The film is directed by Steven Soderbergh and runs over four hours! Del Toro dedicated the award to Guevara for his bravery and legend left worldwide as an underground guerrilla hero. The movie has been hit by the critics as well though saying that it is too long for commercial release as well saying the Spanish subtitled documentary style filming would not help it in the long run either. Well it does sound quite interesting so I'm hoping it has some circulation!

Book Picks for the Summer

So although I enjoy leisure reading all year long, summer is especially known to be the season to grab a book and relax. In honor of the kickoff of summer tomorrow (Memorial Day) here are two books I think are worth perusing over this summer.
  1. Chasing Harry Winston....its by the same author of The Devil Wears Prada, Lauren Weisberger. Its about three best friends who drastically change their lives in a short period of time. A very light and fun read. If you enjoy this also checkout the Something Borrowed, Something Blue, Baby Proof trilogy to be entertained through the warm days to come.
  2. The Art of Racing in the Rain...by Garth Stein. A story told from a family dog's philosophical point of view. Sounds like a heartfelt novel from an unlikely viewpoint.

If these books don't quite cut it for you, I also recommend picking up any book that was recently made into a movie because the books are usually better and of course always...Enjoy! And feel free to give your pick for summer reading picks as well!

Out this weekend...

Everyone should definitely go see Prince Caspian this weekend...but also if you if are in LA or NY then go check out War, Inc. It is directed by Joshua Seftel and stars John Cusack, Marisa Tomei, and Hilary Duff, who has a very scandalous dance scene at one point! Cusack plays a hitman who is sent to Turaqistan? to kill of some one interefering with United States trade in the area but has trouble in the mean time because he has to pretend he is there planning the wedding of a popstar (Duff) and dealing with a journalist who is in love with him (Tomei). Cusack helped write the screenplay but unfortunately it isn't getting the best reviews so if it makes it out nationally only time will tell.

Hugh Hefner Biopic

There is a Hugh Hefner Biopic in the talks right now with the title Playboy and Robert Downey Jr. is said to be playing the ladies man himself. This isn't definite but it sounds exciting after his wonderful performance in Iron Man.

Can't wait til this comes to the states!

New Gwyneth film also starring Joaquin Phoenix written and directed James Gray who also directed We Own the Night. So excited love her! Its a romantic drama set in Brooklyn about a guy (phoenix) who is torn between marrying a friend of the family or being with his hot volatile neighbor that he has a fixation for. Don't know when it debuts here but it is being shown at Cannes.

Since Kanye is Touring And All!

So Kanye is in my neck of the woods and I wish I were going on the tour. Although I wouldn't go through the extremes to get tickets as this person did on the radio. Haha check out this hilarious youtube clip of a woman who wanted the tickets a little too much and it cost her a little bit more than her pride. I promise you will not be disappointed.

New Reality Show Coming....Don't Get Too Excited!

So the CW is premiering a new show soon called Surviving the Filthy Rich....don't look away just yet it gets more interesting. Apparently the premise of the show is a newly graduated girl from Yale who has moved to NYC but her job falls through for her so she ends up taking up the challenge to get two insanely rich twin socialites into an Ivy league school...think Olsen twins but not so famous. If she succeeds she gets crazy moolah from the grandmama, and if she fails...well then the show will be even funnier I suppose. You'll have to tune in to see all the shenanigans go down because apparently the twins are not the brightest crayons in the box or the most behaved. I don't know if its worth watching more than once but I'm certainly curious.

Happy Mother's Day!

In honor of Mother's Day, Entertainment Weekly put together a list of top 20 movies to watch with your mom. While I disagree with alot of them...like Alien...umm my mom would think I was crazy to sit her down to watch that...other's were perfect...steel magnolia's, freaky friday, stuff like that. However if I had one piece of advice for any movie to watch with Mom...it would have to be any movie with Diane Keaton. I mean come on she is the MOVIE MOM. When I think who should be cast as someone's mom the top three that came to mind were Diane Keaton, Susan Sarandon, and Sally Field. So if any of those three lovely actresses are playing the role in the movie you plan to watch then I believe you're good to go. Just don't forget the tissues, chocolate/ice cream, and some fresh flowers.

Something to Look forward to in the Fall!

Heroes is slated to premiere its 3rd season on NBC on September 15th. That's not all the exciting news either! It will be a three hour episode of Heroes. The first hour will catch viewers up on the first two seasons and the next two hours will be the first episode of the season. It is also rumored that the season might have over 30 episodes as a relapse from the writers strike...either way I'm super excited to have this show back on the weekly line up of must see TV.

Coldplay is Touring

Coldplay announced their North America tour and its very very exciting. They are touring from June 29th til November 22nd. They are offering up fans they opportunity to win tickets to their New York City and London shows as well. For more details on cities, tickets, and all things coldplay headover to:

Speed Racer...Speeding quickly to DVD

Unfortunately not all comic book movies can be hits. Case in point: Speed Racer. The trailer hinted that this movie would not only very good but also would not do very well in theaters. It reportedly only made a little over $20 million in the States. Iron Man is still number one with $50 mill and in third is What Happens in Vegas, the Ashton Kutcher, Cameron Diaz film which took in $19 mill.

The Smell of Summer

So after having seen Iron Man, I am now pumped to see the other summer blockbusters including Indiana Jones & the Dark Knight. Check out the trailer for each because they look pretty awesome!

New Music!

Beck is reportedly coming out with a new album next month. It was produced by Gnarls Barkley's Danger Mouse so I'm pretty excited. His past albums have been phenomenal so hopefully this one will be as well!

Books & Movies!

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian is coming out May 16th. If you haven't already I recommend reading the book first, it'll make the movie a hundred times better and of course if you haven't seen the first movie of the series The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe watch this.
Watch the trailer from youtube of the sequel:

Cinco De Mayo Eve!

So it is the eve to Cinco de Mayo, aka May 4th, and I'm sure excitement is astir. I know its one of my favorite holidays!

So entertainment news, I found newsworthy today:
  1. P. Diddy/Sean Combs/Puff Daddy...whatever you want to call him, well he likes to be called Sean Diddy Combs and chose that to be the name on his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He recieved it on Friday, and I believe its way past due. Congrats Diddy keep making pop culture hits!
  2. Iron Man debuted this weekend and grossed over $100 million stateside and a little under that worldwide totalling just over $200 million overall! Congrats to Iron Man. It debuted as the second highest grossing non sequal, which is pretty great!
  3. Son of Rambow didn't do so bad either for limited release making a little over $50,000. Not a number comparable to Iron Man but that is the distinction between the blockbusters and the underdogs. It will open in more areas in the upcoming weeks so check it out!
That's all my recapping for the weekend I believe! Cheer up because although tomorrow is Monday it issss also Cinco de Mayo, so grab a margarita or a quesadilla with salsa and celebrate!

Finally Friday!

So its finally Friday, and I had my last class of college which is sad, but also relieving that my workload is ending....for now anyway.

So on a completely different track today I was browsing the news and thought this was pretty cool. There was a graffiti festival in a London tunnel and the popular artist Banksy was there along with dozens of international artists. Looks awesome to me!

Enjoy the beginning of the weekend with that!

Thursday Nights Are Great For TV!

So I'm writing this while I'm watching Lost so during the commercials. Let me tell you Thursday night is THE night for great tv in my view. I mean ABC is throwing Grey's & Lost at you and NBC is kicking it back with half hour shows like Scrubs, the Office, and 30 Rock, how do you decide? Well really you can't. I usually stick to watching the one hours live and saving the half hour shows for online viewing. Of course if you got the spare change you can always get DVR or Tivo that stuff to! So tonight is all about my appreciation for GREAT Scripted TV and no silly REALITY shows! Love the writers glad their back, now I'm just hoping the Actors won't flake out on me and go on a strike!

So speaking of actors and the talent side of things, I haven't brought up the gossip/rumors yet in this blog. I mean that's what makes it yummy.

First things first!
PAM ANDERSON is an American officially! She passed her citizenship test & officially is a part of the great US of A! Everyone should send her a congratulatory card of course and tell her NOT to do her reality tv show because its only going to make people not be obsessed with her life. Man no more reality shows on stars...I hope Denise is reading!

NEXT:
Yummy Food tidbit of the week: Tim McGraw is coming out with his own flavor of Fritos. They will be Spicy Jalapeno Fritos so if its as hot as his wife Faith then I would definitely head over to Stop & Shop and go get myself a bag!

Third order of Business:
There is a spinoff of Family Guy coming and its called Cleveland. Its by the creator of Family Guy, Seth MacFarlene so if its as good as Family Guy I'm excited. But to be completely honest mostly why I love Family Guy is because it is set in RI my home base, so I am biased. They are already expected to air 13 episodes so we'll where it goes!

MARIAH CAREY NEWS: I know Everyone's Excited! Remember when Mariah made that ridiculous appearance on Cribs and tried to seduce the camera man with her awkward diva ways? If you don't you're lucky because I unfortunately have that image burned in my brain! Anyways she is being her ridiculous self again because one day after her rumored engagement to Nick Cannon there is another rumor that they got married. I mean if its on MSNBC how rumored could it be? Check it out for yourselves: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24413267/

100 DAYS UNTIL THE OLYMPICS...CHINA BEGINS COUNTDOWN...to bad the rioting everywhere is getting more attention than the games...maybe they should look at why people are rioting in the first place? Maybe...I mean who looks at human rights issues when there are medals to be won? Alright I'll stop trying to bring about social change with this yummy blog promise!

On to brighter and better news:
Chocolate Wine has been invented...I don't know what it tastes like but sounds fun and worth to try: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/food_and_drink/article3842748.ece

I think thats the note I'll end this post on. Feel free to voice your opinions about any of my fun topics because I love to hear that you agree, disagree, or just love my face! Also keep coming back because this is quickly becoming a daily obsession!
