Current Top 5!

As has been the trend for the past few weeks here are the top 5 movies in theaters right now with number 1 being none other than

  1. Dark Knight- $26.1 M ($442 gross)
  2. Pineapple Express- $23.2 M
  3. The Mummy- $16.5 M
  4. Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants- $10.7 M
  5. Stepbrothers- $9.3 M
Lets see what happens this week as Woody Allen's new film Vicky Christina Barcelona premieres which stars Scarlett Jo, Javier Bardem, and Penelope Cruz...do they have a chance at knocking Batman of his pedestal? Or how about the new Star Wars animated film? Or maybe even the now controversial Tropic Thunder....

A Remake Worth Watching

The Women comes out Sept. 12th a remake of the 1939 classic starring Norma Shearer, Joan Crawford, and Rosalind Russell. The Remake stars Meg Ryan, Eva Mendes, and Annette Bening. It has been modernized by writer-director Diane English (Murphy Brown). The plot is the same though: a woman's world is turned upside down (Ryan) after she finds out her husband has been cheating on her with a salesgirl (Mendes) and she is the last to find out. So she leaves the cheating **** to bond with other gals of high society. This might not appeal to gentlemen since there are none on screen but it definitely will appeal to all who are Sex and the City girls. Literally there are no men in this film but there are appearances from Debra Messing, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Bette Midler.

Batman still #1!

For the third week in a row The Dark Knight came in number 1 at the box office taking in an additional $44.8M bringing its total to $395.88 million! It bumped Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon to second place on its opening weekend. The movie is expected to keep going strong and bring in another 100 million before its out of theaters.
