This weekend I encourage a "limited" European getaway
So if you're not a Trekkie like me there are two films that are worth catching and opening only in limited release this weekend.
From the French Riviera comes the heartwarming familial tale Summer Hours which stars one of my favorites Juliette Binoche.
The second film Little Ashes stars Robert Pattinson as Salvador Dali in 1920s Madrid as he explores his artistic visions and the changing world around him.
So which will it be France or Spain?

In case you haven't seen this yet!
I should've posted this must rent movie yesterday in honor of Cinco de Mayo, but a day late isn't too bad! Y Tu Mama Tambien came out in 2001 and was nominated for an Oscar for Best writing, and Best original screenplay. Although it didn't win the big gold statue it is definitely a movie everyone should see. The story is rich, the dialogue fulfilling, and the film is beautifuly shot. Also actors Gael Garcia Bernal, Diego Luno, and Ana Lopez Mercado bring this engaging story about life...literally to life! Check out the trailer for a sneak peek of what to expect from this film.
Great book...should be a great movie!
I received the book Julie & Julia: One Year of Cooking Dangerously by Julie Powell as a present and read through it as fast as I could. It was such an enjoyable book that when I found it was being made into a movie I was excited and hesitant about seeing this autobiographical tale done right, until I found out the cast. Two of my favorites, veteran Meryl Streep, and charming and much talented newcomer Amy Adams portray Julie and Julia in this heartwarming tale about two real woman. Julie & Julia will not be out until August 7th, but the trailer was recently released to wet our appetites!

NBC Primetime Season Announcement

On the long list of shows that will be on NBC this coming season, a noticeably missing show is Chuck which has a small but very fanatic audience...although the network has not announced that the show has been cancelled it is not on the list of the many shows returning. Heroes, The Office, the new Parks and Recreation, and 30 Rock are among the many returning along with newcoming dramas: "Trauma," "Parenthood," "Mercy," and "Day One."

Weekend Review
One of the films I caught this past weekend at the Tribeca Film Festival was by first time writer/director Julio DePietro. DePietro, who attended the screening for a talk back, explained the book was inspired by one of his favorite books The Good Soldier, about a narrator who is not exactly as he seems. The movie follows the decietful yet lucrative Wall Street culture and how it's intertwined in the city of New York. It stars Scott Porter from the show Friday Night Lights, Alexis Bledel from Gilmore Girls, and Bryan Greenberg.
Not only was the film interesting too watch but it had a killer soundtrack to boot with many of the bands featured being from the NYC area as well.
Check out a clip below & a link of an interview Bledel did after seeing the screening....

Easy Virtue
This aesthetically pleasing period piece was a spotlight film at this year's Tribeca Film Fest and will open in limited release in the US on May 22nd. Easy Virtue follows a boisterous American woman race car driver who marries a young British man who comes from a family run by a very stuffy mother. The film stars Jessica Biel, Kristin Scott Thomas, Colin Firth, and Ben Barnes. It definitely was a delight to watch! Check out the trailer below:
